Flower clutch

Natural leather clutch with hand strap. Cotton lining. Hand-embroidered with natural silk thread. The flower embroidered on this piece is identified in an 18th century bedspread, in the floral composition that adorns the central border of this piece.

From exotic examples such as the papyrus flower, the lotus flower or peonies, to European examples such as the carnation, the lily or the forget-me-not, there are many flowers represented in Castelo Branco embroidery. In this plant universe, almost all the flowers are drawn in a stylized way, according to the perceived reality.
