Two-headed Eagle Shirt I

Long linen shirt with tab collar. This piece can be worn as a midi dress. 3/4 sleeves, finished with a clip and button. Pockets hidden in the side seam. There is a front patch pocket. Front closure with mother-of-pearl buttons. On the back, a two-headed eagle embroidered by hand with natural silk thread and, on the shoulders, embroidered feathers.
The two-headed eagle appears in Castelo Branco embroidery as an oriental influence. This is a motif common to various art forms and cultures. In the ancient civilizations of Asia Minor, it was seen as a symbol of supreme power, which was taken up again in the Middle Ages and reproduced by Europeans. In some cultures, the doubling of the head expresses authority at a higher level than the real thing, equivalent only to truly imperial sovereignty. In the Christian religion, its meaning is related to the resurrection. In a more pagan approach, it symbolizes the union of two souls in one body.
